Comparing approaches

RPO, white label or extra sourcing capacity: what do you outsource?

The short answer

Compare the agreed tasks and responsibilities rather than the model label. RPO can cover a wider process or specific parts of it. White label concerns delivery under the client’s brand. Extra sourcing capacity may be limited to candidate sourcing. In every model, record who speaks with candidates, processes information and handles personal assessment.

Three models are not fixed packages

In RPO, Recruitment Process Outsourcing, a partner supports or manages the agreed recruitment process. This may be broad or limited to particular vacancies or stages. White label describes how the service is presented under a brand. Extra sourcing capacity mainly describes additional execution. These terms can overlap; ask about the actual assignment.

Who speaks with the candidate and on whose behalf?

Record who gets in touch, how they introduce themselves and where questions are directed. Delivery under your brand still requires clear arrangements about the organisations involved and data processing. Make the handover to your recruiter visible too. The white-label label does not automatically establish who holds each responsibility.

Compare ownership at each stage

Create a table for the vacancy briefing, campaign, initial conversation, qualification, invitation and personal follow-up. Give each stage an operator, decision-maker and contact person. Ask what the partner needs and what happens when information is missing. Outsourcing a wider package does not automatically mean giving away the employer’s final hiring decision.

Fictional example: capacity around a project peak

In a fictional situation, an installation company has several project vacancies. HR can conduct the interviews but lacks capacity to reach candidates. The company therefore explores support with campaigns and initial qualification. Another organisation may need broader process management. The choice follows the bottleneck rather than the model name.

Discuss the actual working relationship

Red Rocket connects campaigns, the AI recruiter and organisational context with insight in Cockpit. Discuss which tasks your team handles and what support fits; do not assume a particular integration or delivery model. Discuss the responsibilities in your recruitment process. Recruitee’s article on candidate experience offers background on the contact points you design together.

Frequently asked questions

Are RPO and white label the same?

No. RPO usually describes agreed process support; white label describes branding. A specific assignment may contain elements of both.

Can the employer still conduct final interviews?

That can be part of the agreement. Record who executes, assesses and decides at each stage rather than inferring this from the model name.

Where do you start when choosing?

First identify the bottleneck and the tasks that need support. Then compare scope, handover, data arrangements and internal time commitments.
